Australians spend an average of 6.2 nights in Malaysia. While this was an achievement, the Director General acknowledged, “… the Australian market is now truly in our sights.”With 121 flights per week to Malaysia from Australian cities, across three major carriers, and availability of 32,565 airline seats per week, the Director General affirmed Tourism Malaysia’s objective to increase Australian visitor numbers to 1.5 million in the 2019-2020 period. On Tuesday night, at the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel in the heart of the financial district of Sydney’s CBD, Tourism Malaysia unveiled its latest campaign to trade media, partners and guests. The organisation’s new Director General, Datuk Musa HJ. Yusof, articulated the campaign strategy, aimed at attracting more Australian tourists to Malaysia in 2019-2020.Pledging a commitment to working more closely with Australian travel and tourism industry players, the Director General emphasised the country’s current political stability, Malaysia’s diverse culture, and vast improvements to its tourism infrastructure as key messages for attracting more Aussie visitors.
