BRAVE GLENSWILLY’S FAIRYTALE COMES TO AN END IN ULSTER CHAMPIONSHIP

first_imgLady luck abandoned Donegal champions Glenswilly as they were knocked out of the Ulster Club Championship – beaten by a single point by Monaghan champions Latton. The men from the Glen were hoping for a repeat of their earlier round game when they beat Cavan Gaels with a late penalty. But there was no such repeat as Latton came out on top 0-10 to 0-9 at MacCumhaill Park. Despite perfect conditions, a relatively small crowd turned up to see this Ulster Championship clash. On the day several of Glenswilly’s bigger names including Michael Murphy and Ciaran Bonner simply didn’t perform to their ability on the day.The sides went in level at four points a piece at half time. But the Monaghan men, inspired by their midfield master Lennon, who turned the screw from the restart. Latton seemed to score at ease but the same points cost Glenswilly a much greater deal of work and in the end that’s showed.Ironically Glenswilly could have stolen it late on but a close range rush on goal resulted in a point when a goal was in the offing.Overall however the Donegal champions could probably have very little to complain about and perhaps the better team on the day emerged victorious.BRAVE GLENSWILLY’S FAIRYTALE COMES TO AN END IN ULSTER CHAMPIONSHIP was last modified: November 13th, 2011 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:glenswillyLATTONUlster Championshiplast_img
