PALMDALE – Sections of Antelope Valley Freeway in Palmdale and just south of the city will be closed at night this week because of construction of car-pool lanes, Caltrans said. City streets that pass under the freeway will also be closed at times this week because of the construction work, officials said. The southbound freeway closures will occur from midnight to 4 a.m. between Rancho Vista Boulevard and Palmdale Boulevard, Palmdale Boulevard and Avenue S, or Avenue S and Pearblossom Highway, Caltrans said. Traffic will be detoured onto either Sierra Highway or 10th Street West, depending on which section is closed each night, Caltrans said. The northbound freeway closures will occur from 1 to 5 a.m. over the same sections. Traffic will be detoured onto either Sierra Highway or 5th Street East, depending on which section is closed.
