ArcelorMittal implements protocols for safe reopening of schools

first_imgFollowing the Government of Liberia’s recent announcement that schools should re-open on February 2, the administration of ArcelorMittal’s schools in the country has launched a plan to ensure that schools are re-opened with ample consideration for the current Ebola crisis in the country.Under the direction of ArcelorMittal Liberia’s schools superintendent Peter Zuagar and his team, preparations are underway at the various campuses to ensure the safe reopening of the schools, including training teachers and students on how to use thermoscanners.“Having been at the forefront of implementing Ebola preventive measures, you can rest assured that we will enforce all of the government protocols on the safe reopening of schools, including thermo scanning, hand washing, and the 3 meter space, “ said Peter Zuagar.The ArcelorMittal School System consists of two junior and senior high schools, and two elementary schools, with an enrolment of approximately 1,400 students. Established shortly after the company started operations in Liberia, the school system has already produced a second runner in a National Spelling Bee, and a graduate who placed high in the WAEC exams.The administration recently started registration of students. Registration of existing students started on January 12. An entrance exam for new students is scheduled for January 17 and registration of new students will be from January 21-24.
