Lin-Manuel Miranda Discusses Hamilton’s First #EduHam Show

Not only did the kids catch the show, but they also performed their own interpretations of American history on the Richard Rodgers stage. “I fell in love [with musicals] the same way kids are falling in love with Hamilton now,” star and creator Lin-Manuel Miranda told NBC Nightly News, “which is listening to cast albums and imagining my own version in my mind.” That imagined version became a reality for the students, thanks to a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation. “[Hamilton] started off like an immigrant,” one student said, “which we can relate to.” Another noted after the performance: “They look like me and my classmates.” Check out snippets from the first #EduHam day below.
