Davos, Saturday 23 January 2016 – South Africa’s Mafikizolo will tonight fly the South African flag high in the snow covered town of Davos, Switzerland as the 2016 World Economic Forum comes to an end.Mafikizolo’s appearance in Davos follows their outstanding performance at the World Economic Forum’s Africa meeting in Cape Town in June 2015. After their impressive artistic offering the group was invited by Prof Klaus Schwab to travel to Davos to entertain guests at the soiree to mark the end of the 2016 Forum.South African arts and culture is a critical vehicle through which the spirit of our national brand is conveyed within the country and beyond our borders. As such the role of arts and culture in building national cohesion and the economy is recognised in the National Development Plan.
